Engine Overview

The Peugeot 5008 P37 is available with 2 engine variants — from 90 to 326 hp.

Elektro 73kWh · Electric· 231 PS
2024 2026

Powerful electric motor (170 kW) on the new STLA Medium platform for the new 3008/5008. 73 kWh battery (98 kWh also available), up to 700 km WLTP range. DC fast charging up to 160 kW. A completely new platform with 400V architecture — no relation to the CMP generation whatsoever. Too early for reliable weakness data, though first software issues with the infotainment system have been reported.

  • !! Recall: front lower suspension arm bolts fracture

Stellantis recall covering approx. 96,000 new-generation 3008/5008 vehicles (incl. e-3008, e-5008, Opel/Vauxhall Grandland): the ball joint mounting bolts on the front lower suspension arm may fracture due to a manufacturing defect. In the worst case the wheel alignment changes uncontrollably — loss of vehicle control is possible. Affected production: July 2023 to February 2025. Free repair at any dealer.

  • !! Battery cooling — BYD cells degrade during fast charging from 30,000 km

The STLA Medium platform with 73 kWh battery uses BYD NCM622 cells. Multiple sources report a rapidly dropping DC charge curve. The battery cooling system does not keep cells sufficiently cool during fast charging, leading to premature capacity loss.

Symptoms: Fast-charge power drops from 100 kW to below 50 kW within minutes, range declines faster than expected, charge times increase noticeably
    500–2,000 $
  • !! On-board charger fault — early STLA Medium vehicles from 30,000 km

The e-3008 (170 kW, 73 kWh) shares the OBC weakness of the STLA Medium platform. Early vehicles with Mahle OBC are at risk. Stellantis fits the more robust VMAX charger for warranty repairs.

Symptoms: AC charging won't start or aborts, charger fault message, only DC charging (direct current) still works reliably
    1,500–3,500 $

Elektro 98kWh · Electric· 326 PS
2024 2026

Top electric powertrain (240 kW) on STLA Medium with dual motors and electric all-wheel drive. 98 kWh battery, over 600 km WLTP range. DC fast charging up to 160 kW. The highest power level in the new Peugeot EV lineup. Platform and powertrain are too new for reliable long-term data — early model years should be approached with caution. Thermal management for both motors and the large battery pack is complex.

  • !! Recall: front lower suspension arm bolts fracture

Stellantis recall covering approx. 96,000 new-generation 3008/5008 vehicles: the ball joint mounting bolts on the front lower suspension arm may fracture due to a manufacturing defect. In the worst case the wheel alignment changes uncontrollably. Affected production: July 2023 to February 2025. Free repair at any dealer.

  • !! BMS software errors and updates from 20,000 km

Stellantis electric models require regular BMS software updates. Faulty configurations can cause drivetrain failures or inaccurate state-of-charge displays.

Symptoms: Inaccurate range display, occasional drivetrain failure, battery system fault message
    0–0 $
  • !! 98 kWh battery cooling critical during sustained charging from 20,000 km

The e-5008 with 98 kWh battery (STLA Medium) has limited field data yet, but early tests show similar charging curve flattening as on the e-3008. On the 240 kW dual-motor model thermal stress from high power output is especially high.

Symptoms: Fast-charge power drops significantly after a few minutes, reduced charging speed after spirited driving, battery temperature warning at sustained full load
    500–2,000 $

Vehicle Weaknesses

Recall: front axle ball joint bracket

Identical problem to the 3008 P34: the retaining bolt of the front ball joint bracket can fracture. With two missing bolts the car becomes unsteerable (KBA 15847R).

Symptoms: Cracking noise from suspension; in extreme cases sudden total steering failure
Low
Recall: 48V heating cable fire risk

A faulty connector on the 48-volt heating cable can overheat and cause a vehicle fire. Affects the same production batch as the 3008 (action code MYZ, approx. 4,000 vehicles worldwide).

Low
Recall: Wheel nuts not properly tightened

Wheel nuts insufficiently tightened. Can loosen during driving. Workshop checks torque.

Symptoms: Knocking from wheel area, vibration at higher speed.
Low
Recall: High-pressure fuel line leak — fire risk

Connection between high-pressure line and fuel rail can cause fuel leakage. Ignition possible.

Symptoms: Fuel smell in engine bay.
