The specially designed cast-iron exhaust manifold is prone to heat cracks, noticeable as a hissing or whistling sound on cold start. The turbocharger shows wear on its internal seals and oil coking under spirited driving, visible as blue smoke on cold start. The ignition coil wiring in the cylinder head cover degrades from operating heat and loses its insulation, creating a short-circuit risk — only genuine replacement parts should be used. The plastic auxiliary coolant pump with its glued housing eventually fails and causes coolant loss; catching it early prevents a cylinder head gasket failure.
