Mercedes-Benz EQE V295
Weaknesses, engine ratings and buying advice
The EQE is Mercedes' electric business sedan — the E-Class of the EQ world. Built on the dedicated EVA2 platform (not a converted ICE like the EQC), with impressive range and Mercedes-level comfort.
The EQE-EM comes in three power levels: 180 kW (EQE 300), 215 kW (EQE 350+), and AMG at 350 kW (AMG EQE 43 4MATIC). The 90.6 kWh battery achieves 340–410 miles WLTP in the EQE 350+ — realistically 250–310 miles, a practical daily range. DC charging at up to 170 kW — 10–80% in about 32 minutes.
The design is polarizing — the cab-forward silhouette takes getting used to. The interior is outstanding: MBUX Hyperscreen (optional) spanning the full width, ambient lighting, and one of the quietest driving experiences on the market.
Known issues for a young vehicle: early MBUX bugs (2022), optional rear-axle steering with occasional noise, and air suspension (standard on most) not yet long-term proven.
Test-drive checklist: Test MBUX Hyperscreen responsiveness. Check DC charge curve — does power stay consistent or taper early? Rear-axle steering: tight turn, listen for noise. Simulate a long trip: how does the EQE feel after 125 miles of highway?
2026 market: Between $44,000 and $82,500. Strong depreciation — electric sedans lose fastest. Lease returns and demo cars are the best deals.
Insider pick: EQE 350+ (215 kW) as demo with Hyperscreen — range, comfort, and tech at half new price.
Engine Overview
The Mercedes-Benz EQE V295 is available with 3 engine variants — from 245 to 476 hp.
Electric executive saloon on the EVA2 platform, shorter wheelbase than the flagship. Battery 90.6 kWh, up to 654 km WLTP. Drivetrain technology identical to the flagship. Weak points: 12V auxiliary battery failure immobilises the entire vehicle despite a full HV battery. DC charging aborts, with some incompatibility with Alpitronic stations. BMS software recall (drivetrain dropout) and high-voltage fuse box recall (2023–2024). OTA updates can fail. MBUX display can freeze or go blank. As of spring 2026, model years from 2024 onward are regarded as significantly more mature.
- !! Software Recall — Sudden Loss of Drive
A fault in the BMS fault management logic can deactivate the electric drive without warning. 15,000 vehicles affected (EQE + EQS, MY 2023–2025).
Symptoms: Sudden complete loss of drive without prior warning while driving. - !! Recall: faulty 80A high-voltage fuse box
Recall for certain 2023–2024 model years: a defectively manufactured 80A fuse can fail and disable critical electrical systems, up to and including loss of propulsion or increased fire risk. Software update required at dealer.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of drive, electrical system warnings, in extreme cases vehicle will not start - !! DC Charging — Compatibility Issue with Alpitronic Stations
During DC charging the EQE sends too high a pre-charge voltage, which Alpitronic chargers flag as an error. Problem occurs at EnBW, E.ON, Allego, and Aral Pulse stations. Mercedes resolved it via software update.
Symptoms: Charging starts briefly and aborts immediately, charger displays an error, AC charging works fine, problem only at Alpitronic DC stations
