The DGTD 1.6 TDI 70 kW in the Seat Ibiza KJ is susceptible to DPF clogging with short-trip use due to the small engine displacement. Regularly free the vehicle on the motorway.
Symptoms: DPF warning light, power reduction, increased fuel consumption
The DGTD, like all EA288 small diesels, tends to EGR coking with predominantly city driving. EGR valve cleaning or replacement may be needed from 80,000–100,000 km.
Symptoms: Power loss, MIL, black exhaust smoke
On the DGTD 1.6 TDI in Arona and Ibiza VI, the EGR valve tends to soot deposits that cause it to stick. Short-trip driving makes the problem worse.
Symptoms: Rough idle, fault code P0401, power loss, MIL
The DGTD 1.6 TDI frequently enters Limp Mode with predominantly city use as DPF regeneration cannot reach the required exhaust temperature.

Identical to DGTC: the DGTD wastegate actuator corrodes and jams. Characteristic clicking when lifting off between 1,800–3,000 rpm and EPC light.

Recall (code 24FO) for T-Cross 2018–2020 with 1.0 TSI: injectors don't close completely after engine shut-off and drip fuel into the combustion chamber. Increased emissions, possible fire risk.
Water penetrates into the boot or spare wheel well, especially after a car wash or heavy rain. Cause: leaking weld seams at the tailgate hinge or defective forced ventilation outlets.
Recall (code 90S4) for T-Cross production period 09/2020–07/2021: the seatbelt warning system may fail, causing incorrect display of belt status in the instrument cluster. Software update resolves the issue.
The T-Cross C11 AC condenser sits unprotected behind the grille and is particularly vulnerable to stone chip damage. Many owners fit aftermarket protection grilles retrospectively as repair costs are disproportionately high.
Rear brake discs show early pitting and scoring with low use or a conservative driving style. No brake pad wear indicator as standard. Front discs can be worn as early as 20,000 km.
The MIB3 infotainment system sporadically freezes or restarts. Android Auto connection is unreliable. Fault messages without actual defect. Software updates partially resolve the issues.
LED headlights mist up inside with condensation. Cause: lower heat output of LEDs compared to halogen and smaller ventilation openings. Dealers class minor misting as 'normal'.
Some owners report noises from the front axle and sporadic steering noises. Suspension is overall rated as robust, but should be checked at higher mileages.
The interior is predominantly trimmed with hard, scratch-prone plastic. Few soft-touch surfaces. The centre console and door panels quickly show scratches and signs of wear.
