The Škoda Peaq launches in September 2026 as the brand's new electric flagship, positioned as a large SUV with up to seven seats sitting above the Enyaq. Technically it is based on the Volkswagen Group's further-developed MEB platform, often referred to in the trade press as "MEB+" — a development stage previously used only in China and now arriving in Europe for the first time. Important for buyers: this is NOT the Group's future SSP architecture, which is not expected until around 2028/2029 with the actual Enyaq successor. The 400-volt electrical architecture therefore remains, while rivals such as the Kia EV9 have already moved to 800 volts.

Three variants are available at launch: the Peaq 60 with a 59 kWh net battery, 150 kW and rear-wheel drive starts at around €49,900. The Peaq 90 with the larger 86 kWh battery and 210 kW offers noticeably more performance from around €57,900. The all-wheel-drive Peaq 90x with 220 kW and an additional front drive unit starts at around €60,400. WLTP range spans roughly 450 km (60) to over 600 km (90 versions). Charging tops out at 160 kW (60) or up to 199 kW (90 versions) — a 10 to 80 percent charge is quoted at around 27 to 28 minutes.

The battery cells use NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) chemistry — unlike smaller MEB siblings such as the Elroq or updated Enyaq, which are partly switching to cheaper LFP cells. Škoda grants the Group-standard warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km on the high-voltage battery, with capacity guaranteed not to drop below 70 percent according to the manufacturer.

Since the Peaq has only just gone on sale, there is naturally no reliable long-term data yet on reliability, software stability or wear parts — accordingly, no known weaknesses are currently documented for this model. Early test drives do, however, already offer a few points worth noting: on a camouflaged prototype, ADAC criticized the third row as barely usable for adults over 1.80 m — better suited to children or short trips. A measured real-world consumption of 17.7 kWh/100 km on a winding, non-motorway route also does not look outstandingly frugal. Reviewers also flagged the charging power as limited compared with newer 800-volt rivals, given the relatively premium entry price for the class.

For used buying in the coming years: check software maturity (a typical early-life issue for previous Group MEB models), review update history and check a battery health report once available. Buyers mainly after range and family practicality without needing all-wheel drive will usually find the Peaq 90 the best value; the 90x pays off mainly with genuine AWD needs, while the 60 is the cheaper entry point with noticeable trade-offs in range and charging speed.
