The Škoda Epiq is the brand's entry point into its fully electric line-up, priced roughly on par with the combustion-engined Kamiq as the cheapest way into a compact SUV. It rides on the VW Group's new MEB+ platform, shared with the VW ID.Polo, VW ID.Cross and Cupra Raval — technically close siblings with a largely identical drivetrain and similar battery technology. Buying an Epiq means buying essentially the same underpinnings as its sister models, just with Škoda's usual focus on interior space (475-litre boot) and price.

One key technical difference from older MEB models such as the ID.3 or Enyaq: the two cheaper versions, Epiq 35 (85 kW) and Epiq 40 (99 kW), use a 37.5 kWh (net) LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery instead of the previously standard NMC cells. LFP is considered more tolerant of full charges, cheaper to produce and longer-lived — trade press estimates put it at 3,000 to 5,000 full charge cycles, well beyond typical ownership periods. The downside: lower energy density, hence a shorter range (around 310 km WLTP) and noticeably weaker DC charging power (50 kW on the Epiq 35, 90 kW on the Epiq 40) — a real compromise for road trips and frequent fast charging. The Epiq 55, by contrast, uses a conventional NMC cell with 51.7 kWh net, more range (up to 440 km) and up to 125–133 kW charging.

On the high-voltage battery, Škoda grants the group-standard 8-year/160,000 km warranty with a minimum of 70 percent residual capacity — per the manufacturer this applies equally to both cell chemistries.

For used buyers, the model year matters: a heat pump is not available for the 2026 production start and, per Škoda, only arrives from 2027 — anyone doing a lot of winter driving should specifically look for an MY2027 car with the heat pump fitted, since retrofitting is not possible given how deeply it is integrated into the climate system. Early test drives also flagged tight rear knee room for taller passengers and a fairly firm ride on larger wheels.

Since the Epiq only starts deliveries in summer/autumn 2026 (Epiq 55 first, the cheaper versions following later into 2027), there is no long-term ownership data, no reliability surveys and no recall history yet. Buyers who want certainty should wait for the fleet's first one to two years on the road. Generally: known MEB-platform themes from older siblings like the ID.3 or ID.4 (12V battery, infotainment software) are NOT yet documented for the Epiq specifically and should not be assumed, though they are useful background when comparing across MEB models. Choosing the LFP version gets a tendentially more robust but slower-charging, shorter-range package; the Epiq 55 is the more well-rounded all-rounder for anyone who also covers longer distances.
