Peugeot 5008
Top electric drivetrain on STLA Medium with dual motor and all-wheel drive. 98 kWh battery, over 600 km range.
326 hp AWD in a family SUV
The E-5008 Dual Motor brings 240 kW and four-wheel drive to the large seven-seater — an absurd combination that works brilliantly. The launch from standstill is breathtaking and wet-weather traction is effortless. Anyone who thought a Peugeot family car could not be a driver's car will be proved wrong.
Engine Weaknesses 6
The AC charger fitted in Stellantis EVs (including e-5008 STLA platform) is known to fail. AC charging up to 22 kW drops out completely. Repair costs 2,500–4,000 €.
Symptoms: AC charging aborts immediately, wallbox charging not possible, charging system fault message
Stellantis electric models require regular BMS software updates. Faulty configurations can cause drivetrain failures or inaccurate state-of-charge displays.
Symptoms: Inaccurate range display, occasional drivetrain failure, battery system fault message
The e-5008 with 98 kWh battery (STLA Medium) has limited field data yet, but early tests show similar charging curve flattening as on the e-3008. On the 240 kW dual-motor model thermal stress from high power output is especially high.
Symptoms: Fast-charge power drops significantly after a few minutes, reduced charging speed after spirited driving, battery temperature warning at sustained full load
As a STLA Medium vehicle the e-5008 shares the OBC weakness. Early production with the original Mahle OBC is at risk. As the car has only been available from 2024 there is limited long-term data, but the platform weakness is documented.
Symptoms: AC charging won't start or aborts, fault message 'check charging system', reduced charge power, only DC charging reliable
Platform-wide issue: faulty deep sleep with active wallbox connection drains the 12V battery. As the e-5008 has only been available from 2024, software is usually already updated, but early build year 2024 vehicles may be affected.
Symptoms: Car dead after standing at wallbox, 12V battery fully drained, doors won't open
The large 98 kWh battery (BYD LFP) degrades faster with frequent fast charging. Thermal management limits charge power early. First long-term tests show a slight SOH drop after 20,000 km.
Symptoms: Charge power drops after several fast-charging sessions; displayed range below factory figure; SOH monitoring shows decline
Vehicle Weaknesses 4
Identical problem to the 3008 P34: the retaining bolt of the front ball joint bracket can fracture. With two missing bolts the car becomes unsteerable (KBA 15847R).
A faulty connector on the 48-volt heating cable can overheat and cause a vehicle fire. Affects the same production batch as the 3008 (action code MYZ, approx. 4,000 vehicles worldwide).
On the new 5008 GT Hybrid isolated cases of abrupt gearbox failure while driving are reported. The vehicle loses drive and comes to a stop. In documented cases the entire gearbox was replaced.
The new infotainment system shows numerous software problems in the first months of operation: frozen display, incorrect speed sign recognition, sat-nav crash while driving.
