Large electric SUV with long-range talent
The E-5008 with 170 kW brings the same STLA technology to the seven-seater: 231 hp move even the larger SUV with authority. Range is impressive thanks to a battery of up to 98 kWh. For a family car of this size it is unusually dynamic and quiet.
Engine Weaknesses 6
PSA electric models on the Stellantis platform share architecturally similar OBC problems. On the e-3008 with 73 kWh battery early charging failures (AC loss) have been reported. The 22 kW AC charging capability can be lost.
Symptoms: AC charging no longer possible, only DC fast charging still works, charging system fault message
As with other PSA EVs, the 12V auxiliary battery can discharge excessively in standby. The car cannot be started or opened after extended standing.
Symptoms: Car doesn't respond to the key, won't start after several days standing
The STLA Medium platform with 73 kWh battery uses BYD NCM622 cells. Multiple sources report a rapidly dropping DC charge curve. The battery cooling system does not keep cells sufficiently cool during fast charging, leading to premature capacity loss.
Symptoms: Fast-charge power drops from 100 kW to below 50 kW within minutes, range declines faster than expected, charge times increase noticeably
The e-3008 (170 kW, 73 kWh) shares the OBC weakness of the STLA Medium platform. Early vehicles with Mahle OBC are at risk. Stellantis fits the more robust VMAX charger for warranty repairs.
Symptoms: AC charging won't start or aborts, charger fault message, only DC charging (direct current) still works reliably
Shares the platform-wide Stellantis weakness: when connected to a charger the car doesn't enter deep sleep and drains the 12V battery. Peugeot has released a software update. New vehicles from late 2023 usually already have the corrected software.
Symptoms: Car dead after extended parking at wallbox, 12V battery below 3 volts, doors won't open
The BYD Blade LFP cells lose capacity faster than expected with frequent DC fast charging. The thermal management of the STLA Medium platform limits charge power at high SOC.
Symptoms: Charge power drops significantly after several fast-charging sessions; range noticeably decreases over the first 20,000 km
Vehicle Weaknesses 4
Identical problem to the 3008 P34: the retaining bolt of the front ball joint bracket can fracture. With two missing bolts the car becomes unsteerable (KBA 15847R).
A faulty connector on the 48-volt heating cable can overheat and cause a vehicle fire. Affects the same production batch as the 3008 (action code MYZ, approx. 4,000 vehicles worldwide).
On the new 5008 GT Hybrid isolated cases of abrupt gearbox failure while driving are reported. The vehicle loses drive and comes to a stop. In documented cases the entire gearbox was replaced.
The new infotainment system shows numerous software problems in the first months of operation: frozen display, incorrect speed sign recognition, sat-nav crash while driving.
