BMS memory overflows with many diagnostic requests and triggers a system reset. 7,558 vehicles affected. Software update at dealer.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of drive without prior warning, numerous warning messages in instrument cluster.
Software bug in battery management can trigger a BMS reset during too many simultaneous diagnostic requests, leading to immediate 100% drivetrain failure while driving. Affected: EQS 2023โ2025.
Symptoms: Sudden complete drivetrain failure without warning while driving, vehicle rolls to a stop, warning lights on display
The optional rear-axle steering (up to 10ยฐ) occasionally needs recalibration. Warning message on display, workshop visit required.
Symptoms: Rear-axle steering warning, steering feels vague, straight-line tracking deteriorates
After software updates EQS owners report significant range loss. Cause: more conservative BMS parameters following safety updates.
Symptoms: Displayed range at full charge noticeably lower than before the update.
The MBUX Hyperscreen occasionally shows software faults such as frozen displays or reboots. Continuously improved via OTA updates.
Symptoms: Display freezes, spontaneous infotainment reboot, touchscreen unresponsive
Vehicle Weaknesses 6
The rear-axle steering occasionally loses its calibration and must be reset at the workshop. Steering angle restricted until repaired.
In individual cases the display film of the MBUX Hyperscreen lifts at the edges. Replacement under warranty; primarily affects early build years.
Hyperscreen freezes or reboots. TV reception brings the entire display to a standstill. Reversing camera not working.
Failed OTA updates permanently deactivate functions. Navigation, lane recognition and voice control can fail.
AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering actuators show wear at high mileages. The highly complex system makes repairs extremely costly.
Wind noise from the side window area from 100 km/h. Seals can be corrected by readjustment.
