– Be Careful
Engine H4D-67kW-LPG – Be Careful 2,810–7,760 $

Turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder in LPG operation. No hydraulic tappets — have valve clearance checked every 100,000 km. LPG variant with factory-fitted LPG system; observe 10-year tank re-certification and check injectors regularly. Pay particular attention to the cooling system.

Fun Factor? Decent

ECO-G for penny-pinchers

The 1.0 SCe with 91 hp and factory LPG is the fuel-sipping option in the Jogger. Plenty of power, very low running costs.

Engine Weaknesses 7

!! Timing chain stretch on TCe variants

Timing chain can stretch on the turbocharged variants (TCe) after 120,000–160,000 km. Cold-start rattling is an early warning sign.

Symptoms: Timing chain can stretch on TCe variants after 120,000 km

550–1,100 $ from 140,000 km
!! Oil in spark plug tubes

Valve cover gasket leaks in the spark plug tube area. Same issue as the H4B three-cylinder.

Symptoms: Valve cover gasket leaks in the spark plug tube area

110–280 $ from 90,000 km
!! CVT gearbox judder

CVT gearbox (X-Tronic) judders at constant speed. A software update may help; otherwise the variator belt is worn.

Symptoms: CVT gearbox (X-Tronic) judders at constant speed

220–880 $ from 90,000 km
!! Valve seat wear from LPG operation

LPG burns hotter than petrol — valve seats wear faster. Check valve clearance every 30,000 km. Hardened valve seats fitted from the factory.

Symptoms: LPG burns hotter than petrol — valve seats wear faster

220–550 $ from 90,000 km
!! LPG tank corrosion after 10 years

LPG tanks must be inspected and replaced if necessary after 10 years (mandatory inspection). Internal corrosion from condensation is possible.

Symptoms: LPG tanks must be inspected after 10 years

330–550 $ from 150,000 km
! LPG injectors fouled

Landi Renzo LPG injectors foul up over time. Replace the gas filter every 15,000 km. Rough running in LPG mode is a symptom.

Symptoms: Landi Renzo LPG injectors foul up over time

110–330 $ from 60,000 km
! LPG system diagnosis limitation

LPG ECU (Landi Renzo) is encrypted — only specialist workshops can read it. Regular Dacia dealers are often unable to diagnose it.

Vehicle Weaknesses 11

!! Electronics Electronic steering lock faulty

The electronic steering lock sporadically jams and prevents engine start. Display shows 'turn steering wheel + START' without success. Documented on ECO-G: replacement part unavailable for weeks, vehicle had to be recovered multiple times.

330–880 $ from 15,000 km
!! Other Recall: rear wheel may come loose

KBA recall 0EKB (January 2025): on 5,659 vehicles produced March to October 2024, the required torque was not achieved on the rear stub axle bolts. A rear wheel may come loose while driving. 1,032 vehicles affected in Germany.

!! Electronics MediaNav display freezes or stays black

The 8-inch MediaNav display fails to start after a long standstill or freezes while driving. Affects all drivetrain variants. Switching ignition off and on helps temporarily; a software update at the dealer is often the only lasting fix.

0–170 $ from 5,000 km
!! Electronics 12V battery discharges prematurely

The 12V battery shows warnings such as 'battery low' or 'safety mode' after only a short standstill. Particularly common with short-trip drivers and in winter. The energy management system only charges the battery under overrun conditions, which is insufficient in city traffic. Battery replacement sometimes needed as early as 35,000 km.

110–220 $ from 25,000 km
!! Brakes Premature front brake wear

Front brake discs and pads wear significantly faster than expected on some vehicles. Documented in forums: MOT failures due to worn discs at only 23,000 km, repair costs around €700. Hybrid drivetrains show much less wear due to regenerative braking.

280–770 $ from 30,000 km
!! Rust Limited corrosion protection from the factory

Dacia provides only 6 years of perforation warranty instead of the industry standard 12 years. Even on new vehicles, suspension parts and wheel arch edges show surface rust. Forums recommend retrofitting cavity sealant and underbody wax as a precaution, especially in regions with road salt.

220–660 $
!! Body Leaking windscreen with water ingress

On some vehicles, water enters the front passenger footwell through a poorly bonded windscreen seal. Clogged drainage channels in the doors can also cause interior moisture. Covered by warranty if occurring within the first two years.

0–330 $
!! Suspension Leaking front shock absorbers

Isolated reports of leaking front shock absorbers below 36,000 km. Oil weeping from the damper housing, initially without noticeable loss of ride comfort. Replacement parts are difficult to source as individual dampers are often only available as a set of four. For 2026 Dacia has revised the springs and dampers.

220–550 $ from 35,000 km
! Interior Creaking and rattling interior trim

Dashboard, door trims and headliner produce creaking and crackling noises over uneven surfaces. Typical of the hard plastics used in the interior. Particularly noticeable with temperature changes and when the air conditioning is running. Driver's seat frequently squeaks when getting in and out.

! Interior Inadequate seat cushioning on long journeys

The front seats, carried over from the Sandero, are too soft with little lateral support and a seat base that is too short. On journeys longer than 2 hours, drivers complain of back pain and insufficient thigh support. The seat loses its shape quickly and offers barely any lumbar support.

! Suspension Creaking coil spring isolators and top mounts

Rubber isolators on the coil springs become brittle and produce creaking and squeaking noises, especially when stopping and getting out. Strut top mounts are a known creaking point on Dacia models. Lubricating the top mounts helps temporarily; replacement is needed in persistent cases.

60–280 $ from 20,000 km
