6.2-liter V8, same bottom end as the LS3 — but with Active Fuel Management. 400 hp instead of 426, the deficit feeds the AFM compromise. The real issue: AFM lifter bearings starve, rattle over cam lobes, send metal through the engine. TSB 10-06-01-007D. Synthetic oil, 5k-mile max. AFM delete (~$2,500) is the permanent fix. If the LS3 manual is available, skip the L99.
400 hp V8 auto — AFM is the slow poison
Same engine as LS3, minus 26 hp, plus cylinder deactivation that can kill the motor past 50k miles. Fine for cruising, irrelevant on track. Budget for an AFM delete — or just get the LS3 manual.

Torque tube and driveshaft create noticeable vibrations at certain speeds. Balance and bearing check needed.
The 6L80 6-speed auto shows torque converter shudder. Fluid change often helps, worst case converter replacement.
Steering rack develops play — vague center feel at higher speeds.
Hard plastics everywhere, dashboard creaks, loose trim panels. Disappointing build quality for the price.
Pinion seal on the rear diff leaks. Diff fluid visible on inside of rear wheel.
MyLink system freezes or shows black screen. Restart by holding volume knob.
