Buick Envision
2.5L Ecotec with port and direct injection, 197 hp. Fundamentally reliable engine with few complaints. Brake vacuum pump is the only notable weakness. Adequate for city driving, struggles on the highway.
Underpowered and boring
197 hp naturally aspirated in a 4,000-lb SUV. Functional, but no joy. The 2.0T is the better choice.
Engine Weaknesses 1
The brake vacuum pump can fail and damage the exhaust camshaft during failure. Affects braking performance. The 2.5L is otherwise very reliable โ this is its main known weakness.
Symptoms: Spongy brake pedal, longer braking distances, camshaft noise
Vehicle Weaknesses 5
All dashboard lights and instruments shut down completely for 5-20 seconds while driving at highway speeds. Major safety hazard.
Temperature door in rear HVAC housing breaks, rear passengers only get hot air. Repair requires dashboard removal.
Sunroof drain tubes clog and water enters the cabin. Can cause electrical damage.
Start-stop system works unreliably or fails to restart engine. Battery voltage and control module identified as causes.
Persistent brake squeal even after pad replacement. Rotors and pads must be replaced together.
