VW GTX
Most powerful MEB motor with 210 kW in the ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX.
GTX Makes You Smile
The ID.3 GTX with 286 hp and rear-wheel drive is a genuine fun machine β instant throttle response, good traction, agile handling.
Engine Weaknesses 5
The Tavascan's dual drivetrain (APP550, Dual-Motor) increases software complexity. In addition to the usual MEB infotainment bugs, calibration errors between front and rear motors are reported. Stability issues in certain driving situations have been noted.
Symptoms: Infotainment crashes; missing Cupra Connect connection after workshop visit; assistance systems fail during driving
The 12V supply issue is structurally inherent to MEB models and also affects the Tavascan (APP550). Workshop reports confirm the problem, which has been partially resolved through software updates.
Symptoms: 12V system warning; vehicle fails to start; all displays dark; fault messages after cold start
In the APP550, the 12V on-board electrical system drops below the minimum threshold during DC fast charging, causing a complete system shutdown. VW responded with a field action: new EFB battery and software update.
Symptoms: Warning 'Electric system not in order', vehicle cannot be restarted, towing required
The Cupra Tavascan charges at a maximum of 135 kW DC, which is criticised as below par for a 2024 BEV SUV. Unstable charging power at some public DC chargers due to compatibility issues adds to the problem.
Symptoms: Charging aborts at public DC chargers; charging power drops suddenly; app shows incorrect charging forecasts
Manufacturing variances in the APP550 stator production result in varying noise levels. Some motors become louder with increasing mileage. In isolated cases motor replacement is necessary.
Symptoms: Humming or droning noise at 60β100 km/h, noise louder at medium power demand, no power loss
