Suzuki Vitara
1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder with 48V SHVS mild hybrid — the integrated starter-generator noticeably fills the turbo lag earlier than in the non-hybrid. 235 Nm torque, more responsive throttle despite 11 PS less than the K14C. Early reports show occasional starting issues; mechanically the engine is considered solid. Long-term data still limited.
Sensibly powered compact SUV
At 81 kW the Vitara is adequately powered but without fire. The mild hybrid system makes it economical and refined — sensibility over excitement.
Engine Weaknesses 1
Isolated reports of starting failures on the Vitara 1.4 Mild-Hybrid, including repeated breakdowns requiring roadside assistance at under 50,000 km even after battery replacement.
Symptoms: Engine fails to start, start attempt aborts, occasional warning light on dashboard
Vehicle Weaknesses 3
The front radar on the Vitara LY-FL2 drops out for no apparent reason while driving — sometimes after as little as 15–30 minutes. A full sensor replacement is recommended (approx. €1,500).
The A/C compressor on the Vitara LY-FL2 can fail prematurely. Faulty magnetic clutch and compressor bearing damage are the most common causes.
The rear brake discs on the Vitara LY-FL2 corrode quickly in predominantly urban use. Replacements have been documented at as little as 44,000 km.
