Seat Mii electric 60kW
Synchronous electric motor with 61 kW peak power and 32.3 kWh usable capacity. Check traction battery capacity loss on older units; high-voltage battery was subject to a safety recall in 2021. Identical to VW e-Up.
Electric Mii — quiet and swift
The electric Mii surprises with brisk acceleration. In the city it is genuinely fun; range is sufficient for everyday use.
Engine Weaknesses 4
Defective battery cells can cause a short circuit and fire risk. Affected: Seat Mii Electric build years 2020/2021. The high-voltage battery must be replaced in full.
Symptoms: No driver warning — safety-relevant recall without typical symptoms
Individual HV battery cells in the Seat Mii electric fail prematurely and cause drastic capacity loss. One documented case: only 17 kWh usable instead of 36.8 kWh after just 9,000 km.
Symptoms: Drastically reduced range, real capacity far below target, OBD shows cell voltage strongly deviating
The 32.3 kWh battery of the Mii electric loses capacity over the years. Defective individual cells accelerate the process. Warranty: 8 years / 160,000 km down to 70% residual capacity.
Symptoms: Significantly reduced range, erratic state-of-charge display, OBD capacity reading below 70%
A software fault in the Seat Mii electric discharges the 12V lead-acid battery in standby. Even a single deep discharge permanently damages the battery. VW addresses this via service action 90R4.
Symptoms: Vehicle does not start, interior lighting flickers, warning message '12V battery check'
Vehicle Weaknesses 5
The optional 5-speed ASG gearbox responds sluggishly and jerks on pull-away. Engaging 1st gear and reverse when the engine is warm is particularly problematic.
Worn steering and wishbone joints cause knocking noises at the front axle. A typical roadworthiness inspection complaint on older vehicles.
Leaks in the refrigerant circuit cause refrigerant loss. Additionally compressor failures and blocked condensate drain hoses are known, causing moisture inside the cabin.
Inadequate underbody corrosion protection leads to rust on the underbody of older vehicles. The exhaust system typically rusts through from the 5th year of operation.
The headlights on the Mii are prone to misalignment and are flagged more frequently at roadworthiness inspections. Defective low-beam headlights are a typical complaint.
Reports & Tests
The Mii passes the roadworthiness inspection without complaints more frequently than the class average, even at higher mileage. Typical weak points are defective rear lights and misaligned low-beam headlights; the exhaust system also attracts attention above average.
