Porsche Taycan Turbo
The Taycan Turbo at 500 kW is the first Taycan where the power figure starts becoming physical reality: the launch control start produces acceleration that takes the breath away from even hardened drivers. The sound — Electric Sport Sound combined with wind noise and the subtle e-motor whine — is no replacement for a combustion engine, but its own experience. The suspension is noticeably more stable at higher speeds. Technically the refined high-performance powertrain of the range.

500 kW in the Taycan Turbo is real and tangible — launch control produces acceleration that surprises even hardened combustion engine drivers. The car doesn't accelerate like a car, it accelerates like a catapult that has found its anchor. The 800V architecture ensures this performance remains repeatable — even after the second, third full-throttle launch in a row. The Electric Sport Sound is acceptable acoustically, no replacement for a combustion engine, but its own experience.
Engine Weaknesses 5
Insufficient sealing in high-voltage battery modules can allow moisture ingress and cause electrical arcing. Fire risk. Porsche recalled affected vehicles for inspection.
Manufacturing defects in HV battery cells can lead to short circuit and fire risk. KBA recall affects approx. 27,000 vehicles worldwide. Porsche replaces affected cell modules free of charge.
The LiFePO4 auxiliary battery discharges completely after extended standing; the BMS disconnects it to prevent deep discharge. The vehicle responds to neither the key nor the app — despite a fully charged HV battery.
Symptoms: Vehicle cannot be opened or started; no response to remote or app; vehicle completely unresponsive.
In the speed range 33-70 km/h, a penetrating whine or hum from the rear axle reduction gear; rpm-dependent. Constructively improved from MY2022.
Symptoms: Whining or humming noise at approx. 40, 60, 74 km/h; also occurs in glide mode.
Porsche Communication Management freezes on the logo or becomes unresponsive; navigation, CarPlay and climate control cannot be operated. Reboot: hold both steering wheel scroll buttons for 10 seconds.
Symptoms: Black or frozen screen; no map display; no response to touch.
Vehicle Weaknesses 10
In approx. 43,000 Taycans (2020–2021) the drive can cut out spontaneously during driving and traction is lost. Porsche resolved this via a software update.
Inadequate sealing in HV battery modules allows moisture ingress and creates arcing with fire risk. Charging limited to max. 80% until repaired.
The 12V lithium battery fully discharges after standing for more than 10–14 days, especially in winter. Car becomes unresponsive; doors remain electrically locked.
The Webasto H10 heating module fails; cabin stays cold. Windscreen defrosting not possible. Approx. 800 Taycans affected (2020–2021). Replaced with the H11 version; long wait times.
The optional 22 kW on-board charger (OBC) fails due to weak MOSFET chips. AC charging is no longer possible or is severely throttled. Parts were intermittently out of stock.
The PCM6 infotainment system freezes on startup or crashes during driving. Navigation stops responding, radio presets are lost, Spotify and CarPlay cut out.
The optional Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) discs squeal when braking, especially noticeable with windows down. Inner disc surfaces rust and leave stains on wheels.
Some Taycans show uneven body panel gaps, particularly between the bonnet and front wings. Quality variation from suppliers. No safety issue.
At low speed with large steering angles the front axle pops or clicks, particularly in cold conditions or after standing. Ackermann effect of the sports geometry — technically normal, no repair required.
Isolated rattling noises from the dashboard and B-pillar when driving over uneven surfaces. Rear seatbelt rattles against B-pillar trim.
