Kia GT 3.3 T-GDi
Twin-turbo V6 with effortless torque from 1,300 rpm and a rich V6 sound. 3.3 litres of displacement deliver relaxed pull without turbo lag. Stick strictly to oil change intervals and keep an eye on both turbochargers — expensive to repair.
V6 twin-turbo — Kia's grand coup
366 hp V6 twin-turbo with rear-biased all-wheel drive, tuned for driving dynamics by Albert Biermann (ex-BMW M). In Sport Plus mode up to 93% rear axle torque, gentle power slides possible, powerful V6 soundtrack — genuine gran turismo at Korean prices.
Engine Weaknesses 3
The left-side turbo oil supply line can degrade from radiant heat off the exhaust manifold, causing oil loss. Kia recalled 69,907 Stinger/K9 vehicles (Germany: 2,912, model years 2016–2023, Kia action 241039).
Symptoms: Engine oil warning light, oil spots under the vehicle, white smoke from the engine bay, burning smell
The G6DP 3.3 Twin-Turbo uses pure direct injection like all Lambda GDi engines. Carbon deposits on intake valves are visible as an oil film within a few thousand kilometres and increase with mileage.
Symptoms: Power loss and hesitation at part throttle, occasional rough idle, increased fuel consumption
According to owner reports, the G6DP 3.3 V6 TT consumes above-average oil under spirited driving. As a GDi engine without port injection, increased blow-by accumulates deposits that further raise consumption.
Symptoms: Oil level drops noticeably between changes, especially after spirited driving or long motorway runs
Vehicle Weaknesses 6
Damage to the wiring harness in the engine bay can cause contact with components and vehicle fire. The ABS/ESP unit can also cause a short circuit. Affected: vehicles up to model year 2018.
Brake discs can start to judder after just a few thousand kilometres, especially if the bedding-in period was not observed correctly. On the powerful 3.3 T-GDI with Brembo brakes, the phenomenon occurs more frequently.
Headlamps on the Stinger CK tend to develop condensation inside, especially after rain or cleaning. Fogged-up headlamps can impair light output and MOT pass.
On the Kia Stinger CK, multiple owners report squealing steering noises in cold weather that sound like rubber-on-rubber friction. The noise usually disappears once the vehicle warms up.
On the Kia Stinger CK, occasional infotainment system failures occur, including a blue screen on the reversing camera and Apple CarPlay dropouts. Software updates usually resolve the issue temporarily.
A rattling tailgate is a known comfort issue on the Stinger CK. The tailgate rubber buffers can be adjusted to eliminate the noise.
