Fun Factor? Fun to Drive!

EV6 AWD — electric all-wheel thrill

325 hp all-wheel drive in the EV6 — 0-100 in 5.1 seconds and immediate response. Unusually good driving fun for a family EV.

Engine Weaknesses 4

!! Recall: ICCU failure leads to loss of drive (EV6 AWD)

Identical ICCU issue as on the RWD: the integrated charging control unit can fail and no longer supply the 12V network. Kia recalled EV6 AWD (2022–2024) under the same recall (SC327).

Symptoms: Audible 'pop' noise, dashboard warning lights, gradual loss of drive within 22–45 minutes

!! ICCU failure: 12V system failure

The AWD variant of the EV6 is fully affected by the ICCU recall. The combined load of both electric motors can increase the thermal stress on the ICCU unit.

Symptoms: Gradual power reduction, 12V system failure, vehicle comes to a standstill, no hazard flashers possible.

1,500–3,000 € from 30,000 km
!! Rear axle reducer bearing noise

On performance-oriented AWD vehicles, bearing noise from the rear reducer has been reported, particularly with a spirited driving style and at higher mileage.

Symptoms: Humming from the rear axle area at certain speeds, increasing noise level at higher mileage.

500–2,500 € from 100,000 km
! Heat pump whistling noise in cold weather

As with the RWD variant, the heat pump on the AWD EV6 also generates loud whistling noises at low temperatures. Software updates resolve the issue on most affected vehicles.

Symptoms: Whistling or whirring from the climate area when heating is on below 0°C.

200–800 € from 20,000 km

Vehicle Weaknesses 6

!! Other Recall: ICCU fault — 12V battery not charging

The integrated charge control unit (ICCU) charges the 12V starter battery incorrectly, which can cause the vehicle to stall. Recall for approx. 19,078 vehicles in Germany (production April 2021 to February 2024). Software update or ICCU replacement.

!! Electronics 12V battery drains when parked

Even after the ICCU recall, EV6 drivers report a flat 12V battery after extended periods of inactivity. An infotainment system crash prevents a complete shutdown and drains the battery.

100–300 €
!! HVAC AC fails — expansion valve leaking

On the Kia EV6 CV, leaking expansion valves have been documented that cause complete AC failure. Refrigerant loss becomes apparent through lack of cooling and heating.

400–1,200 € from 40,000 km
! Electronics Software crashes and infotainment freezes

The EV6's infotainment system occasionally freezes or reboots. Known link to 12V battery problems. Kia provides regular OTA updates.

0–200 €
! Suspension Front axle rumbles on poor road surfaces

On the Kia EV6 CV, rumbling suspension noises occur at the front when the vehicle rolls on poor road surfaces. The cause is often loose suspension bolts or dust boots.

50–400 € from 30,000 km
i Interior Headliner creaks above driver's door

On the Kia EV6 CV, the headliner creaks in the area of the B-pillar above the driver's door, particularly when the body flexes on uneven surfaces. Multiple forum members report the same symptom.

0–150 € from 20,000 km
