Buick Enclave
3.6-liter High Feature V6 with direct injection, variable valve timing, and 288 hp. Far more durable than the LLT predecessor. Requires strict 5,000-mile oil changes (never trust the oil life monitor) or timing chain stretch starts around 85,000 mi.
Better than early models, still not great
The LFX variant has fewer timing chain issues, but power steering and AC remain weak points.
Engine Weaknesses 1
Early 3.6L LFX suffers premature timing chain stretch when oil change intervals are stretched. GM Special Coverage SC-10287 applies.
Symptoms: Cold start rattle, P0008/P0009 codes, check engine light
Vehicle Weaknesses 5
The 6T75 wave plate in the automatic transmission can shatter due to improper hardening. Metal debris destroys the transmission internally.
Power steering pump and rack are prone to leaks and complete failure. GM was aware of this issue since 2007.
The power steering pressure hose rubs through the aluminum A/C line running to the rear evaporator. Design defect.
StabiliTrak/TC warning lights and intermittent limp mode caused by weak battery or throttle body buildup.
Support struts fail to hold liftgate open, especially in cold weather.
