DKZA-152 2.0L TFSI 207 hp Automatic Front-wheel drive Hatchback 2018–2026
– Be Careful
Engine DKZA-152 – Be Careful 4,769–14,250 €

2.0-litre TFSI with 200 PS — EA888 Gen4 unit, the latest development stage. Significantly improved reliability over earlier generations; fewer oil consumption and timing chain problems. Use correct oil specification (VW 508 00). Walnut blasting with direct injection recommended every 80,000–100,000 km.

Fun Factor? Fun to Drive!

Agile lightweight — direct and fun

207 hp 2.0L in a compact chassis — nimble handling, good punch.

Engine Weaknesses 5

!! Timing Chain Stretch and Chain Tensioner

The timing chain can stretch excessively, leading to skipping. The chain tensioner fails with a neglected oil change rhythm. In the worst case pistons and valves collide.

Symptoms: Metallic rattle on cold start, engine warning light, power loss, rough running

800–1,500 € from 80,000 km
!! Turbocharger Bearing Damage from Coking

With insufficient lubrication or overly short oil change intervals, the oil supply lines to the turbocharger can become blocked. The result is bearing wear and ultimately turbocharger failure.

Symptoms: Whistling noises from engine bay, blue smoke under load, power loss, oil in intake

1,500–3,500 € from 120,000 km
!! Elevated Oil Consumption from Piston Rings

The 2.0 TFSI (EA888 generation) tends to elevated oil consumption from worn piston rings at high mileage. Up to 1 litre per 1,000 km possible. Older build years more affected.

Symptoms: Blue smoke from exhaust, oil level drops without visible leaks, sweet combustion smell

1,200–3,500 € from 100,000 km
!! Intake Valve Carbon Buildup (Direct Injection)

As a direct-injection engine, fuel does not wash the intake valves. Oil mist from crankcase ventilation deposits as soot on the intake valves and reduces power.

Symptoms: Hesitation at low load, poor throttle response, elevated consumption, cold-start difficulties

300–700 € from 80,000 km
! Ignition Coil Failure

Ignition coils are a known wear item on the 2.0 TFSI. They fail primarily at higher mileages but can also fail early, especially with frequent short trips.

Symptoms: Hesitation and stumbling under load, misfire fault codes (P030x), engine warning light

80–350 € from 80,000 km

Vehicle Weaknesses 6

!! Other Recall — Rear Seat Belt Buckle Bracket

The rear left seat belt buckle bracket may have been damaged during the manufacturing process, potentially reducing restraint effectiveness in a crash. Free replacement at the dealership.

0–0 €
!! Gearbox S-tronic DQ200 — Judder on Pull-Away

The 7-speed DQ200 dry clutch gearbox judders on pull-away and in urban traffic. Shifts between 1st and 2nd gear are audibly harsh. Frequent short trips accelerate clutch wear. Software update helps but is not a permanent fix.

300–2,500 € from 80,000 km
!! Other Recall — Leaking Fuel Injectors

Around 300 vehicles recalled for fuel injectors with leak rates outside the legally permitted limit. Fuel vapour can enter the engine bay. Free replacement at Audi dealer.

0–0 €
! Brakes Rear Brake Discs — Surface Rust and Grooves

Rear brake discs wear faster than average due to the low rear brake bias. After standing or in winter, surface rust causes deep grooves that can become MOT-relevant.

150–500 € from 50,000 km
! Electronics MIB3 Infotainment — Crash and Sound Loss

The MIB3 infotainment system crashes and restarts; in some cases sound is completely lost. Affects radio, navigation voice guidance and Bluetooth telephony. Hardware fault on boards with part number 83A035064.

339–900 €
! Steering Steering — Clunking When Manoeuvring

Steering creaks or clunks when manoeuvring or parking at low speed. Causes include tie rod ends, strut top mounts, or the steering rack. Early detection prevents costly follow-up damage to the rack.

100–800 € from 60,000 km
